Service students select courses for the upcoming school year and use Student Connect to input their course requests for next year. Over the summer a computer algorithm runs all requests and builds schedules for students, which will be ready in August. Therefore, it is necessary for all students to enter their course requests during the open scheduling windows and enter requests as accurately as possible. All requests will be reviewed and modified by counselors as needed; students can contact counselors for any questions and to make changes once the open input window has closed.

1. Use the above Core Academic and Elective forms to make a plan for the classes you want.
Please visit our Virtual Tours Page to learn more about programs and electives offered at Service as well as to familiarize yourself with the layout of Service High.
2. Please review the following video to review credits needed, understand what classes you are choosing, and see a demonstration on how to input your classes. Click here for demonstration video.
Note: To play video you may need to sign in to your GoogleDoc account.
3. Log in to your Student Connect account. Contact your counselor if you need your password.
Note: parents can see course requests on Parent Connect but all changes must be made under Student Connect.
4. Choose SERVICE HIGH track for NEXT Year (2024-2025)
5. Select "Requests" tab on the left side menu.
6. Click "Add/Edit Requests" on the top right of this section.
Note: for 9th grade you are only choosing electives; for 10th and 11th you choose science and electives; for 12th grade you select all of your classes other than Economics and U.S. Government.
If you want AP core classes add these to your course requests and counselors will delete the standard core class request.
Program courses (BCA, Seminar, and Leadership) are added for all students in those programs. If you are wanting out of a program see your counselor to have this course deleted.
7. Use the course list window in the bottom left, searching by subject or class name, then add course.
Note: If you are adding a year-long class you MUST enter both semesters. If you enter a class that shows "S1" that indicates it is semester 1 of a year-long class and you must also enter the same class with "S2".
8. If you have an alternate for a core course input your 2nd choice and make that an alternate for your 1st choice.
For example, if you want Human Anatomy as a science course but would be okay with Astronomy as an alternate if Human Anatomy does not fit in your schedule, then list Astronomy as an alternate for Human Anatomy. This way it will not give you two science courses, and will only give you Astronomy if Human Anatomy does not fit your schedule.
9. Add elective courses in the order of priority in which you want them. If you want to change the order delete requests and input again. Remember all core academic classes receive first priority.
10. Juniors and Seniors selecting King Tech classes: For a KT course select "At King Tech" AM (periods 1-3) or PM (periods 4-6) then your counselor will confirm with you what KT course you want and will add that to your requests. To see King Tech classes click here.
Juniors and Seniors may be able to have a period off. If you plan for this you can choose "Late Arrival" or "Early Dismissal" so your counselor knows you plan to have a free period in the morning or afternoon.
If you want to take online courses through AK Choice you will need to complete the AK Choice enrollment form and return this to your counselor. Please note there have been a number of challenges with AK Choice so counselors do not recommend students take online courses through AK Choice.
11. Enter all choices, making sure at least 6.0 total credits show, then hit "Submit".
Note: If are wanting to take ASD Virtual Courses you will need to meet with your counselor in April or May to adjust your requests and add online classes.
12. You may edit your choices following these steps at any time during the open window for your grade.
